How to install an eSIM on a Huawei device

Go to Settings > Mobile Network.
Tap SIM Management and select SIM 2.
Tap eSIM and then tap Add eSIM.
Tap Register QR Code and scan with the camera or register with a manual code.
Once the eSIM verification is complete, tap Add eSIM.

Steps for choosing eSIM for mobile data

Go to Settings > Mobile Network.
Select SIM Management.
Select SIM 2 for mobile data.
Activate mobile data. (For Huawei P40, go to Settings > Mobile Network > Mobile Data to activate mobile data.)

Steps for enabling data roaming on Huawei

Go to Settings > Mobile Network.

If you see a message stating 'eSIM cannot be added' on your device during the eSIM installation, it might be due to network issues or because the installation has already been completed. This is a frequent problem encountered on iOS devices when using a QR code or manual setup.

Let’s see these checklist to identify the eSIM was already installed or not:

Ensure you can see the second network on top screen of your device that mean eSIM was installed (1).
Open general settings and choose “About”, then you can see the ICCID was appeared or not in physical SIM section (2).

💡 How to solve:

Check if there are any software need to update and install the latest version.
Maintain a stable and strong signal Wi-Fi connection.
Try to restart your device to fix any hidden misconfiguration automatically.
Try to turn OFF the mobile data for a couple minutes and then back to turn it ON.

Unable to continue cellular configuration or activate eSIM

If you see a message stating 'Unable to Continue Cellular Configuration' or 'Unable to Activate eSIM' on your device during the eSIM installation, it might be due to a weak network signal.

Why am I receiving text messages from overseas when installing an eSIM?

Accepted Answer

You may occasionally receive SMS messages in a foreign language from unknown numbers while using an eSIM. These are sent by the supplier of the eSIM product, and there is no need to worry.

You may receive messages in Chinese when the eSIM is activated.

Some of our eSIMs are partnered with CMHK, a network provider in China. The received messages are automatically sent when the eSIM is activated. Since we can't know the language of each user, these messages are written in Chinese by default. There is no need to worry as they are welcome messages.
