# Why is my eSIM already activated even though I haven’t traveled yet?

Your eSIM begins activation as soon as it's installed on a supported device and region. However, the validity period of your plan will only begin once your eSIM connects to the local network in your destination country, based on your selected plan. So no need to worry if you install your eSIM before your arrival at your destination.
