# How do I install and activate an eSIM on an iPhone?


* Scanning the QR code on the iPhone automatically starts the installation process. Click continue. (If scanning is difficult or impossible, use the manual entry code.)
* Once the eSIM is verified, click done.
* Give the newly added eSIM a name and click continue. For example: 'Travel', 'Secondary', 'Cellular Data'.
* In the Default Line options, select 'Primary' to continue receiving messages and calls on your existing number. Then click Continue.
* To continue using iMessage and FaceTime with your existing number, select 'Primary'. Then click continue.
* In the Cellular Data options, select eSIM. To avoid additional roaming charges, turn off 'Allow Cellular Data Switching'. Then click continue. (If you are not traveling, leave it as the default.)
